90% will follow the WT, no matter how the doctrines change.
And the rest will hopefully find their way here
this is my first post here.
i've been a lurker for awhile but had no particular desire to join until the other day.. anyways, do you think that if wt decided to face the fact that 607-1914 is an indefensible pile of crap that has been artificially kept steaming for way too long, would it really kick off a mass exodus or anything?
in the short term the fds/gb might lose some authority, but they are hemorrhaging people anyways keeping it around (607 started me on the road to this place).. if wt stopped talking about 1914 for awhile then later killed it, blaming it on "further research" or something, and acknowledged some uncertainty in 607/587, i really doubt that very many of the r&f would think much about it.

Welcome faithfulslavedriver
From talking to a still in JW it wouldn't matter a jot. Whatever was said would just be considered "noo lite" and any significance would pass over their heads.
Any doubts they would not voice out loud as they would be worried about being labelled apostate so most likely would keep quiet.

i don't want to spend time checking this claim from a jw, and whether it is true or not is, i think, of no significance to their claim of being the 'one true religion'.
In my old congregation in Horndean there were two German sisters, a mother and daughter who had been raped by soldiers whilst in a concentration camp.
The mother died whilst I was still in but the daughter must be gone too now. They both stayed faithful and still suffered even after coming to UK.
im assuming we all realise the gb may be many things but the individuals are not fools.
given the changes in ideas, formulation of new light and so on, do they buy the fascade they are presenting ?
if theres anyone in there, surely they as men, know how very man made it has always been.
How can they believe they are god's channel of communication when they have got it wrong so many times?

I think that if they believed it 100% they would not be so tough on apostates.
Truth stands up to scrutiny and they know full well their religion doesn't, that is why they demonize us. Their huge empire is in danger of collapsing around their ears, possibly in their lifetime and let's face it, if it does, where will they go?
would someone please explain the current interpretation of the generation.
this topic is one that is causing alot of confussion and turmoil.
jwn, you.
It was originally A. Then it was B followed by C but currently and until further notice it is D!
"rejecting or trivializing the genesis account about adam and eve creates a domino effect that undermines nearly every major teaching in the bible!
such a way of thinking leads to a host of unanswered questions and a faith with nothing to stand on.".
footnote: "these include teachings about gods sovereignty, human integrity, good and evil, free will, the condition of the dead, marriage, the promised messiah, a paradise earth, gods kingdom, and many others.".
I had never really been allowed to think critically growing up. I was taught to obey my superiors whether it was my parents, teachers boss or religious leaders.
Children these days are much more able to express themselves freely and question authority too.

As some-one once said. "So basically, Jesus had a sh*t weekend!"

The bit about the ransom I never understood was that if Jehovah paid the ransom (giving his only begotten son as the ransom fee instead of money) to retrieve us (the ones kidnapped by Satan) then how come he got his money back (Jesus)?
That's not usually how it works.
I could understand it more if Satan kept Jesus until negotiators went in and persuaded Satan to hand him back or Satan was destroyed forever and so Jesus was released.
Now if God never got Jesus back for the sake of the rest of us, that would be a sacrifice.
